A three-hour delay caused by the decor organiser took away from what was quite a beautiful wedding day.
|||Could it be that OPW's new host Thembisa Mdoda is the magic?
Week after week the weddings have gone so smoothly, there must be something in the air.
This week's couple had us oohing and aahing about love and perseverance.
The groom found Jesus after a long struggle with alcohol and the bride stayed by his side through it all.
They have a 13-year-old son together who was so happy to see his parents get married that he helped them plan all the details of the wedding - from the cake flavours to the two dresses his mother would wear.
When things got tough, the couple's son and wedding planner Thato became Zodwa's source of strength. He even chose her dress, to make sure she sparkles! http://bit.ly/20fxhJf #OurPerfectWedding

The wishlist had four main things the couple wanted to ace: the cake, suit, dress and decor.
The couple's cake is a four-tier beauty. One tier carrot, another vanilla, another red velvet and the last one chocolate. Isn't it pretty? #OurPerfectWedding

The cake checked all the boxes, four different flavours including the new favourite at weddings - red velvet (Black Twitter is convinced this flavour has replaced black forest at the black wedding).
The groom's suit was smart and his party of nine groomsmen were all tailor fitted into their purple suits.

The bride dazzled in her 'Sparkly' dress from Springs tailor Eseh. Her two dresses had names, the other being 'Cinderella'. Eseh made sure that there was enough bling on the dress to make the bride shine.
On the wedding day the bride refused to leave the house without knowing what was going on with the decor. The couple was to get married at the church then return to their Kwa-Thema home for the reception.
At 9:30 in the morning when the wedding was supposed to start, only a few chairs and a part of the stretch tent had arrived. By the time the bridal party left for the church at 12ish nothing much had arrived. Guests had been waiting for over three hours at the church. Yikes.
So while the service continued, back at the house the decor lady had finally started to prepare the tent. Only problem was that it was not what the couple wanted. She took shortcuts, didn't set the tables up as planned, left no aisle for the wedding party to walk through and did not even set up cutlery at the bride and groom’s table. When Thembisa addressed these issues, the decor lady, who had a guilty look on her face, simply replied the couple did not ask for any of those things. Now, any sensible person knows that when you're a decorator or setting up a venue for a wedding, there are certain things that are required. Table settings for the bride and groom? Seriously. This decor lady was wack. It was the one element that should have added more life to the wedding day and she basically ruined it.
The bride wanted glitter and sparkles at her white wedding reception decor, and cream and black for the traditional...

Fast forward to after the photographing session for the bridal party, and the couple was just as surprised as the viewers to see how the decor turned out.
No speeches or cake cutting could be done because of the three hour delay earlier.
Day two of the wedding was no better in terms of decor.
Again the planner cut corners and had no answers for her dodgy ways.
What was beautiful about the wedding was the traditional attire. First the couple wore colourful Tsonga/Ndebele attire and then changed into crisp Xhosa attire. The bridal party looked absolutely amazing.
Isn't she lovely? Ntombizodwa was our beautiful Ndebele bride from last night's #OurPerfectWedding. You loved her attire. Read about it here: http://bit.ly/1P8MlxK

It was later that the couple found out the decor lady had booked two weddings at the same time and that is why she failed so dismally.
Guess who won't be getting hired anytime soon?
Overall it was a lovely wedding with a hiccup that should not have happened at all.
Moral of the story: Don't be greedy!
