Johannesburg -

Local rock outfit Prime Circle are looking to take Europe by storm with the release of their new album, Let the Night In (Deluxe Edition) next week.

The album will be launched on Friday, ahead of their multi-date tour of Germany and Austria.

“With the amount of festivals we're playing in Europe, and the amount of push behind the band, we definitely feel the album can be a success,” frontman Ross Learmonth said.

He added the band's fan base in Europe has steadily increased over the years.

“We have toured Europe over the last five years and the crowds have been growing. We've been selling out in Berlin and in a lot of places in Europe. If the shows are anything to go by, the album will do exceptionally well,” he said.

Prime Circle's new album features the 13 tracks from the two-time South African music award-winning album, Let the Night In, including the singles, Gone and Doors, as well as four new original songs and a live, unplugged version of the title track, Let the Night In.

The first new single off the album, Ghosts, was released on radio yesterday, accompanied by a “haunting” music video that marks the co-directorial debut for Prime Circle’s frontman.

Learmonth said he was thrilled to have made his debut as a co-director on their latest single.

“I worked alongside Gavin Davis, who is my partner in the concept studio MadHouse.”

“Sometimes other people don’t get you, so we decided to just do it ourselves. The song is about how people get over things like a bad relationship or depression, and stand up and move on again.”

Learmonth is hoping that the video for Ghosts turns heads.

“There is a ghostly element to the music video, which was shot on 4K ultra-high definition digital film and features a 'beautiful' pas de deux between two of the country’s top female ballet dancers.

“It was great co-directing the video, and to see all these things in your head come alive in picture was really fun. “

Learmonth and his bandmates will jet off for their European tour in a week and will tour Germany and Austria.

The band will perform at a number of rock festivals, including the Rock im Revier Festival in Dortmund and the Rockavaria Festival in Munich.

Aside from appearing on the bill at the festivals, the band will also perform in Hanover, Dresden, Leipzig, Flensburg, Hamburg, Freiburg, Saarbrucken and Mannheim.

Prime Circle will perform alongside world-renowned bands such as Iron Maiden, Garbage, Slayer and Iggy Pop at the European music festivals.

Learmonth said the band were incredibly thrilled to be sharing a stage with some of the best rock outfits in the world.

“These are heroes of ours, so we are really excited,” said Learmonth.

“To be performing on stage and to be in the crowd as fans is something we are really looking forward to. It's a dream come true, and we will take in every moment and just enjoy it.”

While the band have been making steady inroads in Europe, Learmonth said they have no desire to leave South Africa.

“We will be spending a lot more time overseas, but basing ourselves in South Africa. Our roots are deep here and all our families are here so the plan is to remain here.”
