Even in marriage, Tia Mowry finds life is a package deal

Tia Mowry-Hardrict, one half of the famous Mowry twin sisters, is flying solo on Instant Mom, a sitcom about a blogger living in Philadelphia.
Mowry stars as Stephanie Phillips, a woman who has to change her life after she marries Charlie Phillips (Michael Boatman), an older man. This means she will also have to play mommy to her husband’s teenage daughter, Gabrielle, and his two pre-teen sons.
Stephanie gets help from her mother on how to become a step-mother overnight, which comes with its own challenges.
Mowry is no stranger to the sitcom world as she and her sister, Tamera, grew up on TV in the comedy, Sister Sister. They were inseparable and their twin package worked well for the marketing of the show. As they grew, the sisters found they needed to do things separately and Instant Mom is one of those instances where only one of them stars.
It is a good thing for them to grow as individuals because they need to be independent of each other.
On this show, Mowry is also an executive producer, another sign that she is growing in TV production. Outside of Instant Mom, she has starred in productions like The Game and showed her strengths as an actress in a production that wasn’t necessarily a comedy.
Her sister Tamera has also done good work as a solo act, starring in productions like Strong Medicine and Roommates. She is currently a panelist on the popular talk show, The Real, where she is holding her own.
We might not be able to tell them apart, but they are surely doing things apart to grow their separate brands.
But this does not mean that they no longer doing things together. We have seen them in the reality show Tia & Tamera where they simply share their lifestyles and let their fans in on how they are doing.
They have also been together on productions such as Detention, which did really well.
Instant Mom did so well in the US that it has been commissioned for three seasons.
Instant Mom airs on BET (DStv channel 129) every Monday at 4.06pm.
