SA’s new “diva” is crowned by Somizi, Terra gives a surprisingly bad performance and Tebogo’s finally starting to win over the judges.

Another big shock came for Keegan Martin’s fans, an unexpected exit after last week’s powerful Show-Stopper performance.

At Unathi's concerned expression, Proverb asked for the judge's thoughts.

"It’s just been so hard to predict who will leave every night. Everyone who has left this far deserves to be here," she said.

Somizi was quick to highlight the nature of the game saying, "honestly every week, one moet gaan".

The first performance was by Tebogo, last week’s top performer according to the in-house mentor RJ Benjamin.

Songs were selected by the viewers this week and Tebogo chose Nathi's ‘Intliziyo’ and All 4 One's ‘These Arms’.

The judges - who were once not fans of his - were impressed.

Gareth Cliff said, "Woo, Tebogo you have found your flood my friend. You are in full tide right now. I know how much you have been working... from all the times when you have been rejected from the show.

“You get it when you deserve it and right now you deserve it."

Randall believes that he has blossomed.

“I wasn't a fan last year but you've really blossomed. I think you are doing a really really good job of tending to your fans," he commented.

Lucia represented the girls by being the first to make it through to the Top 6. She sang ‘Couple of Forevers’ by Chrisette Michelle and ‘At Last’ by Etta James.

Somizi believes we have found our South African diva.

"What makes a diva in my eyes is someone who has presence and is extremely talented. You have that opportunity to fill that space. Your voice, tone and range is absolutely amazing."

She was compared to Miriam Makeba, Letta Mbulu and other South African legends, because of her "beautiful, gold-dusted voice", as described by Unathi.

Lucia remains Randall's favourite, getting the best compliments from him. Well, Randall seems to have turned a new leaf of kindness this season. Do you miss the old Randall? I do!

Thami sang ‘All I Could’ from Etta James and ‘Sandcastles’ by Beyonce.

His first performance got two judges on their feet and cheers that refused to end from the crowd, even as Proverb was announcing his number.

"You've also blossomed and commendably been working really hard. I don’t think vocally you are up there with the others,” commented Randall, but Gareth disagreed profusely saying that when Thami reaches 40 years, he will sound like Luther Vandross.

Bevin sang Tevin Campbell's ‘Can we Talk’ and Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’.

Somizi said, “You are a bit tense, and sometimes you need to be ratchet!

“Let loose. You don't have my problems. Relax my child," he joked.

Terra Cox’s first performance was a shocker. He was rated the least favourite performance by the judges for round one with ‘It’s All Coming Back To Me Now’ by Celine Dion.

Sia’s ‘Alive’ song got him back in the judges and fans’ good books.

"Shut it down, let's go home,” was all Gareth said.

Randall said, "Possibly the best thing to happen to you was to have the worst performance in the first round. Because it meant that you knew you had to make up for it. And I think that's exactly what you did".

The second lady standing, Noma sang Jennifer Hudson’s ‘Giving Myself To You’ and Season 11’s winner Karabo’s ‘Ngifuna Lo’ which got her a standing ovation from the Idol himself.

She was commended on her untouchable vocal performance, but was urged to show more confidence.

The Idols camera crew took to the streets to surprise Nomzamo from Centurion, the winner of the super fan competition.

It was an entertaining night overall for Idols season 12.

Next week, only 5 Idols contestants get to sing their chosen songs from the Wooden Mic selection, to show ‘em how it’s done!
