More sex, murder and romance in season four of Devious Maids

OUR FAVOURITE characters from Devious Maids are back for a fourth instalment. And they are joined by co-producer Eva Longoria and the delectable James Denton (Mike Delfino from Desperate Housewives). This series, very much in a similar vein to Desperate Housewives (unsurprising given that creator Marc Cherry lends his Midas touch once again) has sex scandals, murder, cover-ups, secrets, infidelity and romance.
When the series debuted, it took a lot of flack for stereotyping Latinas. However, it has long weathered that bump in the road. Viewers have gleefully immersed themselves in the lives of Dania Ramirez (Rosie Falta), Ana Ortiz (Marisol Suarez), Judy Reyes (Zoila Diaz) and Rosleyn Sánchez (Carmen Luna). We have watched in awe as Rosie got her happily ever after by marrying soap star Spence.
However, that love story hit a snag when her supposedly dead first husband, Ernesto, returned.
Then we have Zoila, who has her hands full with her BFF, Genevieve Delatour (Susan Lucci), who changes husbands as often as she goes under the knife. Often, Zoila ends up cleaning up her mess. In the interim, she also had her hands full with her spirited daughter, Valentina, and her newborn baby.
Meanwhile, Carmen was on the brink of fulfilling her dream of becoming a singer. If only she wasn’t having an affair with the husband of the woman who could make it all happen.
Last, we have Marisol, the educated one of the four friends. Her smarts have come in handy often. Of course, they have also landed her in trouble too, especially, during her toy boy phase.
Over the seasons, a murder has always been at the heart of the narrative, with everyone linked to it in one way or another. Season four is no different. In this world where the wealthy folk of Beverly Hills and their help have a co-dependency system going on, another murder rocks the neighbourhood. Amid the whodunit storyline, our favourite characters pick up the pieces of their manic lives.
Marisol becomes a sort of supporting system for Evelyn, undergoing a big life change. Genevieve is struggling to cope with life after Zoila and Rosie tries to fill the void. However, her sunny disposition is a poor substitute for Zoila’s brutal honesty and sarcasm. There is a major twist in Carmen’s story. Despite the setbacks in her singing career, she continues to soldiers on. But the arrival of her daughter, Daniela (Sol Rodriguez), who was raised by Carmen’s cousin, throws her into a complete state of panic. Marisol’s love life looks promising when she starts a new relationship. But the arrival of her old flame, Jesse, throws a spanner in the works of the budding romance. By the way, Longoria has a role on Marisol’s TV show. And Denton is Marisol’s love interest. And Genevieve also seems taken with the new stud in town. This season is going to be a must-see as a major character is also killed off.
