“As much as I loved Senzo, that relationship was a waste of my time and energy,” says Kelly Khumalo in an explosive interview.
|||“As much as I loved Senzo, that relationship was a waste of my time and energy.”
This is the explosive remark that is sure to have viewers glued to their TV screens when MTV Base airs Sizwe Dhlomo’s interview with Kelly Khumalo, in which she lays bare her feelings on her relationships with slain soccer star Senzo Meyiwa and disgraced hip hop star Molemo ‘Jub-Jub’ Maarohanye, as well as her past struggles with drug addiction.
Asked about how she would deal with her “abusive” ex’s impending release from prison (Maarohanye had his sentence cut down after he and a friend served time for mowing down schoolchildren in a drag race), her response is resolute.
“He will have a restraining order against him.”
The channel says that “nothing is off limits” in the tell-all interview, and the TV personality fulfills that promises.
Seemingly referencing a highly-publicised violent encounter with Meyiwa’s wife Mandisa. she claims," She was trying to push me off the road - while I was driving." At the time, reports claimed that Khumalo and her sister had attacked Mandisa on a Joburg highway.
Shortly before Meyiwa’s death, Mkhize was reported by the City Press as saying she had accepted that she had lost Meyiwa forever.
“I respect Senzo's decision to be with Kelly Khumalo,” Mkhize reportedly said in an SMS, when asked if she felt betrayed after Meyiwa told her he and Khumalo had broken up.
“We did not end things on a sour note. He is the father of my daughter and despite all he is not a bad person.
“I wish him well; I am at peace with everything,” she said.
Meyiwa was shot dead on October 26, 2014 in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, while visiting Khumalo. Two men allegedly entered the house, demanded cellphones, and shot him before fleeing.
Khumalo had told the Sunday Times Meyiwa planned to divorce Mkhize and marry her.
“I have never been loved by anyone the way Senzo loved me. He was willing to do anything for me... His heart was with me,” she told the newspaper.
A lot can change in two years, as Kelly’s latest remarks have shown.
