Pornhub nailed for Game of Thrones sex scenes that were uploaded illegally - after it scored 6 million searches.
|||Cape Town - HBO has issued a takedown request to porn site Pornhub, as some of its users have been uploading sex scenes from the hit series, Game of Thrones.
Speaking to Broadly.com, Pornhub vice president Corey Price said: “We respect all copyright requests and once received, immediately removed any infringing content”.
Price also stated that Pornhub uses a third-party content protection service that withholds any copyright material and prevents it from being uploaded.
The website also reported that 2.5 million viewers tuned into the return of the show, which aired in May, and a staggering 6 million users also searched for porn content related to the show.
Pornhub management stated that on the day of the show’s release, users searched for Westeros, and the “Mother of Dragons” Daenerys Targaryen - a character on the hit show, and became the site’s most searched content.
The porn site’s traffic drops by 4% when Game of Thrones is on TV.
HBO has also requested some sites such as Kickass Torrent and Torrentz, which allow the use of illegal downloads, to be taken down, and episodes of the show have been removed from those platforms.
