A stellar cast makes season 2 of Thola one to look out for

|||

The last time we watched SABC2’s Thola, we saw Dibuseng try to come to terms with the fact that her husband was in hospital. The character was played by the phenomenal Nthati Moshesh who has since moved on to other opportunities.

Her role has been taken over by Keabetswe Motsilanyane whom we know as KB in music circles. She has also been seen in Rhythm City where she spent years honing her craft. Dibuseng will not be an impossible role for her. She joins the show with her character having been arrested for killing her husband and she now has to prove her innocence. We begin the season with Dibuseng behind bars and fighting for her freedom.

Also joining the stellar cast is Kgomotso Christopher who was recently on Isidingo. Christopher has that delicate demeanour to her that makes it hard to tell if her characters are really fragile or just feign it. It is a skill she uses efficiently.

Then there is also Lerato Moloi who might have been quiet of late, but can’t be faulted when it comes to her acting abilities.

Essentially, Thola is the A-Team of South Africa’s acting talent.

“Thola is always so exhilarating to make, from the writing to casting and production. All the cast and crew put such a lot of energy and effort into making something that we really hope the audience will enjoy. Marina Bekker, the head writer and creator, did an amazing job of writing something that will thrill, shock and amaze with every twist and turn of the plot. We’ve paid special attention to the look and feel of this series,” said Kethiwe Ngcobo, the producer of the show.

For Ngcobo, the good work was done by the overseers of the project whom he felt worked seamlessly together.

“I’d like to thank the three directors, Vincent Moloi, Reabetswe Rangaka and Nqobile Nthuli for thinking and creating something very special for us all to see. We had to replace Nthati Moshesh due to her unavailability and Keabetswe Motsilanyane was an obvious choice,” he said.

Thola airs on SABC2 every Wednesday at 9.30pm.
