Hack My Life finds interesting solution to life’s little problem

|||

I have a friend who hates the fact that I am a DIY guy. I talk about how I can fix a blown light bulb and make it work for a few more days before the light goes out for good.

Making a fully functional radio from odd parts of the bulb is just mundane. Yet all this is easy if you tune into Hack My Life, Sony MAX’s (Fridays at 9pm) latest show for the guys (and girls).

On Hack My Life we’ll meet presenters Kevin Pereira and comedienne Brooke Van Poppelen as they show us some of the most interesting hacks.

Have you ever set the stage for a good time with friends, including providing good food and wine, only to find that you do not have a corkscrew? What if I told you that you could solve that problem with a shoe?

You might also have been in a sticky situation when you have dog/cat hair on your clothing. You should know that something in your house can make that problem disappear.

The pair not only show you these solutions, but also take you through life hacks that are over-hyped, meaning they do not work as they are supposed to.

This is typical of Sony MAX’s weird and unassuming programming which is, interestingly, popular.

Think of Sports Gone Wild, where the focus is on what could go wrong in a game of sport. Any kind of sport. It could be the wild fights at an ice hockey game or the nude woman who jumps onto the rugby pitch in search of attention from the players. But the fact is the show has people talking.

Another one is Most Daring which is basically an adrenalin-fuelled show about cops doing Hollywood car chases in real life. It is amazing that people will actually put themselves and society in danger while they race away from the law.

If you were a commissioning editor sitting in on a pitch and an enthusiastic producer came up with the ideas that are now these shows, it would be a hard sell. Yet they are so popular: Most Daring is in its fourth season and they do not look as if they’ll be slowing down.

For every guy out there who is not into sports or cars, but loves silly yet addictive content, Sony MAX (DStv Channel 128) is the place for you.

You’ll save a lot of the internet data that you could have used on YouTube by just tuning into this channel.
