Basetsana Kumalo to sue Drum magazine over photo of her child, after failing to prevent publication of today’s issue.
|||FORMER Miss South Africa and prominent businesswoman Basetsana Kumalo and her husband, former Eskom board member, Romeo Kumalo, on Thursday night tried to prevent the publication of this morning’s Drum magazine.
According to their lawyer, Ian Levitt, the magazine had chosen to publish an image of one of their children in an article concerning Basetsana’s alleged medical procedures.
The couple are well known for keeping the private lives of their children out of the media.
At 1.30am today, when they were informed of the publication of the photo, they launched an urgent interdict to stop the magazine from printing at the high court in Joburg.
According to Levitt, Judge Denise Fisher chose not to grant the order because the image of the child had already been posted online. The couple will launch civil proceedings to sue the magazine next week.
