Teen idol makes insensitive quip about Prince as tributes pour in
|||How could Justin Bieber be so insensitive?
The “Baby” singer angered music fans by appearing to make fun of Prince as news broke of his tragic death.
Beiber put his foot in it after guitarist Andrew Watt was inspired to create an emotional post in which he called the “Purple Rain” artist his “guitar idol”.
Watt hailed Prince as “the last of the greatest living performers” and claimed that his “instruments yielded a sexual transcending aura”.
Obviously, Bieber disagreed. Why else would he reply to that post, saying: “Well not the greatest living performer”.
Perhaps he meant it as a joke, seeing as Prince is no longer living. Perhaps Bieber believes that he is in the same league as Prince. Perhaps he is still salty because of what Prince said about him a few years back.
In a 2010 interview on The View, Prince had this to say about Bieber: “The key to longevity is to learn every aspect of music that you can. I hope he does pick up an instrument and gets a new teacher.”
Bieber has since deleted his tweet, but it’s too late. While he can count on his Beliebers to defend him, Prince fans aren’t about to mince their words.
“B**** you're barely mediocre, sit your entire scrawny delinquent a** down,” was one of the more print-friendly responses to his tweet.
